Certification and Compliance Specialist – East Longmeadow, MA The Certification and Compliance Specialist is responsible for overseeing and executing approval and certification processes to ensure that products supplied are compliant with national and international standards.
They will directly support global sales and R&D teams regarding product certification and certified body approval through understanding and assessing customer, distributor, and product requirements.
This is onsite, Mon-Fri and reports to the Sr.
Director of Engineering and R&D.
Responsibilities:Develop and maintain filing system and computer database for quality and related documentsFile certification hard copies and electronic copiesReview certification requirements to collect and develop required documentsSupport document control system for users to have latest version of documentsPerform in-house audits to determine readiness of certification related componentsUtilize technical judgment to determine whether noncompliance variations compromise the continued application of Certifications and determine if alternatives are acceptableUnderstanding of marking and labelling programs of production, inspection, and shipping to ensure products identified in compliance with certifying bodiesUnderstands device construction, test acceptance criteria, and requirements of applicable sections of Standards, and procedures for Special Competency required categoriesProvide general info on policies and procedures for the varied certification services and levelsReviews procedures, test methods, test results, sample selection and variations in products, devices, processes, systems, and materials as necessary to resolve problems, implement changes to existing requirements, or help develop new requirementsCollaborate with outside services to achieve the best resultsCollaborating with Universities and Colleges for research and recommendationsCapable of interpretation of multiple product categories and/or inspection methods.Ability to utilize instruments to perform inspections, such as air quality gauges, flow meters, micrometers, voltmeters, and ammetersAssessment and identification of manufacturers’ components necessary to meet UL and international requirementsDocument examination, variation, and test results to appropriate UL formsOrganize and execute testing protocols on existing and new equipmentMaintains logs for scheduling inspections and renewals for all company certifications, domestic and international Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Environmental, Manufacturing, or other related technical or Engineering fieldsPersonal knowledge and experience working with regulatory bodies, domestic and international.5-10 years experience in a manufacturing environment5-10 years of project management softwareKnowledge of mechanical and electrical terminology, technical writing, and organizational structure to execute forms and applicationsKnowledge of raw material extraction, transportation and distribution, disposal and recycling, carbon footprint and environmental product impactsKnowledge of national and state regulations including healthy building programsKnowledge of safety and non-safety certification inspections and field evaluations in accordance with the applied performance standardsAbility to execute forms in multiple languages using translation toolsWork experience with Marketing and other departments for document creationAbility to coordinate teams domestically and internationally to resolve issues or establish needed information Physical Demands:Ability to lift, push, and pull objects up to 30 pounds.Comfortable standing for up to four hours at a time.Onsite attendance at the East Longmeadow, MA location is required.Light travel to suppliers for certification-related activities.
Base salary $100-120k + Benefits package, 401k and generous PTO.
