Position: Project Development Manager – BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems)
Overview
An experienced and proactive Project Development Manager is sought to join a German renewable energy development team. The role focuses on progressing an existing project pipeline, sourcing new solar PV and battery storage opportunities, and managing them to Ready-to-Build status. The position offers full remote work for candidates based in Germany, with preference for those in the Berlin or Stuttgart regions. Collaboration with local consultants and remote teams across different time zones is required.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate with the central site-finding function and Head of Development to guide land search activities
Conduct landowner outreach and lead contract negotiations
Liaise with grid operators to identify and secure grid connection agreements
Engage with local communities to facilitate permitting processes
Manage relationships with local planning offices to secure project permits
Oversee site surveys and coordinate project design work
Provide progress updates to international teams
Support project sales, RFPs, and off-take agreements as needed
Maintain awareness of regulatory and policy developments in the renewable energy sector
Required Skills & Experience
Native-level German proficiency
Proven experience in renewable energy or real estate project development in Germany
Knowledge of German permitting procedures
Strong self-management, organisation, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication abilities, including remote collaboration
Experience in managing contractors to deliver on schedule and budget
Advanced English (written and spoken)
Willingness to travel within a defined German region and occasionally internationally
Valid driving licence and home office setup
Right to live and work in Germany
Desirable Skills
Experience negotiating land lease or purchase agreements
Experience applying for and negotiating grid connections

Home-based role anywhere in Germany, with regional travel and occasional visits to international offices
