Position Overview: We’re seeking an experienced and detail-oriented CAD Designer / Draftsperson with a solid background in structural steel detailing to join our dynamic team.
This is a full-time, on-site position that offers more than just a drafting desk.
We’re looking for someone who is eager for a variety of challenges and wants to expand their role beyond traditional detailing.
This is not a 24/7 detailing job—we welcome applicants who may feel burnt out from repetitive work and are ready for a more engaging, multifaceted role.
Key Responsibilities:Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for structural steel fabrication and installationCoordinate civil, structural, and mechanical components for cohesive integrationPrepare documentation for crane lift planning, equipment placement, and access logisticsContribute to permitting processes and support design tasks as neededCollaborate with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to meet project goalsRevise designs based on field and management feedbackMaintain organized records of all drawings, revisions, and project documentationAssist in estimating, answering phones, and providing general office supportSupport project managers with opportunities to grow into an assistant project management role Required Qualifications:Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD tools (2D/3D)5+ years of structural steel detailing experienceStrong grasp of civil, mechanical, and structural engineering fundamentalsAbility to produce highly accurate technical drawingsExcellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skillsCapable of managing multiple tasks with minimal supervisionMust be able to work on-site (remote work is not available) Preferred Qualifications:Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering, Design, or a related fieldPrior experience in the structural steel industryFamiliarity with industry codes, standards, and best practices What We Offer:Competitive hourly rate401(k) with company matchHealth and dental insurancePaid time off and retirement planSupport for professional developmentA diverse workload and a collaborative, supportive work environment Work Schedule:8-hour shiftMonday to FridayOn-site in Cranston, RI (relocation required if not local)
