We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Water Damage Restoration Estimator to assess property damage, create accurate scopes of work, and prepare cost estimates for restoration projects, on behalf of our client. This role is crucial in supporting the operations team and ensuring timely and accurate communication with clients, insurance adjusters, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities:
Damage Assessment & Estimating:
Conduct on-site inspections of water-damaged properties (residential and commercial)
Identify extent of damage using moisture mapping and thermal imaging tools
Prepare detailed and accurate estimates using industry-standard software (Xactimate)
Project Scoping & Documentation:
Create comprehensive scopes of work based on findings
Document job conditions thoroughly through photos, notes, and diagrams
Submit estimates and reports in a timely manner to insurance adjusters and internal teams
Client & Insurance Coordination:
Act as a liaison between property owners, insurance representatives, and project managers
Review estimates with clients and answer questions about scope and timelines
Assist with negotiating and justifying estimates with insurance adjusters if necessary
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers and technicians to ensure smooth job handoffs and execution
Provide support during the restoration process to ensure the estimate aligns with actual work
Qualifications:
MUST be located in Calgary
2+ years of estimating experience in the restoration industry is a must.
Strong working knowledge of water, mold, and fire damage restoration processes
Proficiency with Xactimate (required)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Preferred Certifications:
IICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, AMRT)
Experience with insurance claims handling or working with TPAs (Third Party Administrators)
