Job Description
Role: The Teacher Credential & Induction Advisor/Credential Analyst is the liaison between the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and the university in all CA Teacher credentialing. This position is responsible for implementing CTC credentialing procedures and rules; updating and disseminating credentialing information to students, faculty, and other staff; overseeing the management of all credential files; and authorizing the official filing of credentials. This position also serves as an academic credential advisor to all post-baccalaureate Teacher Credential and Induction students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:
Section A: Credential Analyst
Authorized by the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CTC) to issue credentials on behalf of the university. As a designee, must stay current with state credentialing regulations and procedures and pending credentialing issues and legislation.
Provide training for faculty, staff, and students on the credentialing processes and requirements.
Coordinate with Graduate Admissions on reviewing admission files for prospective students to verify application file meets CTC requirements.
Create and maintain individual credential files for all CA Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, CA Single Subject Teaching Credential, Education Specialist, and Clear Induction Program students.
Communication, collect and review all credential requirements, including but not limited to Basic Skills Requirement, Subject Matter Requirement, and RICA passage for preliminary teaching credential candidates.
Provide presentations on credentialing requirements to student teachers and student forums.
Verify completion of elementary subject matter and completion of single subject preparation programs from other universities.
Process and document Subject Matter Competency Evaluation in coordination with Graduate Admissions and SMC faculty evaluator
Note: students must be emailed within 30 days of the beginning of the term to verify the desire to complete the evaluation and associated fee.
Provide on-going credentialing information and evaluation for alumni who are adding a credential, authorization, completing initial credential requirements, etc.
Section B: Post-baccalaureate Teacher Credential and Induction Academic Advising
Advise all new and returning post-baccalaureate students for Preliminary Teacher Credential and Induction for program planning, course scheduling, and registration.
Prepare course schedules and blended schedule documents for students each semester.
Collaborate with the Director of Teacher Credential regarding enrollment numbers during the registration period for each semester.
Complete the clearance process for all candidates registering for student teaching and then inform the Director of Student Teaching if approved.
Monitor student GPA for program eligibility and CTC accreditation
Collaborate with the Admissions office regarding Readmit students returning to complete their program.
Coordinate with the Director of M.Ed. to facilitate the candidate's change from credential to M.Ed. program.
Monitor academic warnings and prepare probation/dismissal letters if necessary
Section C: Undergraduate Program Admissions
As undergraduate students meet milestone requirements verified by the Assistant Credential Analyst and the Director of Teacher Credential, collaborate with the Admissions and Registrars office to change their program status in Banner so they can register for the next block of education courses.
Section D: Transition from Undergraduate to Post-Baccalaureate Status
Collect/Enter documents into the database for undergraduates approved to continue in the program as a Post Baccalaureate student by the Director of Teacher Credential.
Communicate with the Registrar's Office regarding the status of these students and follow the established protocol for the Undergraduate Transition Process
Section E: General School of Education Office Responsibilities
Interfaces with Registrar's office regarding course enrollment, course upgrading, and student activity and student information as needed
Interacts with Business Office and Student Accounts regarding student status, student activity, and student information as needed
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the university's policies and applicable laws.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's Degree
Higher education advising experience, K-12 teaching experience, or credential analyst experience preferred
Full Time Staff, Non-Exempt
$29.50 - 31.75/hr
