Part-Time Presentation and Event Specialist POSITION OVERVIEW: Do you have the heart of a teacher and a passion for helping the community?

The Better Business Bureau is looking for an outgoing personality that loves to talk with groups of people and organize events.

This part-time BBB Presentation and Event Coordinator will help book and give BBB fraud presentations to students and seniors across our service area.

This includes the popular Scambusters game presented in area High Schools, and the BBB’s Fighting Financial Fraud presentations to senior and community groups.

This person will also help organize BBB Educational Foundation events, including golf outings, scholarship programs and awards events.

Working under the direction of the BBB Educational Foundation Manager, this position offers hybrid work environment and the ability to set your own schedule based on presentation bookings and Foundation event needs.

We are looking for an outgoing person who can represent the BBB in the community and share that we are local and important in communities throughout our service area.

This includes representing the BBB alone and with other staff members at local events.

While the BBB of Michigan covers 80 of our 83 counties, this position will be based out of our Southfield, MI office and will primarily work on the east side of the state.

Former teachers and those with presentation and event organization experience are encouraged to apply.

A perfect candidate is someone who: Is outgoing and comfortable speaking to groups of all ages and sizes Has a passion for helping others Has and wants a flexible schedule Has the ability to travel to presentation sites across the eastern half of Michigan’s lower peninsula.

Likes working as part of a team, but can take ownership of projects and run with them.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: \tManage and complete projects and tasks, as assigned, in a timely \tmanner.

Schedule and execute presentations in schools, community groups, business groups and others.

Research, identify and assist in presentations creation and content updates.

Coordinate and support details for BBB, participation in community and business events that promote visibility and mission, including speaking engagements, trade shows, senior expos, networking opportunities, shred events and other Foundation programs, as needed.

\tExhibit professionalism, diplomacy and ability to appropriately interact with management, staff and customers at all times.

\tMaintain presentations with Microsoft PowerPoint, Prezi, Excel and Publisher software.

\tMaintains confidentiality for all matters of a sensitive nature.

\tOther duties as assigned by management.

\tEnsure all presentations reflect the organization’s brand, values, and messaging.

\tSupport execution of events such as fundraisers, community forums, awareness campaigns, donor recognition events, and workshops.

\tTrack engagement and collect feedback to improve future events and outreach efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS: \tAssociates degree or combination of education and experience relative to the position.

\t2+ years of experience in giving presentations or public speaking, presentation development, event planning, or communications in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.

\tProficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Canva, and/or Adobe Creative Suite.

\tExcellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.

\tPassion for nonprofit work and the ability to communicate compassionately and effectively.

\tWORKING CONDITITIONS: \tHybrid work environment based out of our Southfield, MI office.

\tTravel to events and presentations multiple times per week.

\tOccasional evening or weekend work required for events.

Our organization serves the entire State of Michigan, and the person hired for this position will be expected to travel regularly.

The vast majority will be in the Eastern half of Michigan, including Metro Detroit and places in and around Flint, Lansing, Jackson and Midland for example.

Employee must have reliable transportation and mileage will be reimbursed.

The position may also have presentations or events outside of regular business hours.
