Position Summary
We are seeking a proactive, results-oriented Controller to lead financial management during a rapid growth phase.The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing cost accounting expertise, operational insight, and the ability to transform financial processes into scalable systems. This role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on execution, with a focus on profitability, cash flow, and operational efficiency.
Primary Objectives in the First 12–24 Months
Implement scalable financial systems to support doubling of revenue.
Establish margin and cost KPIs for product lines and major customers.
Enhance job costing accuracy to within 1% variance.
Improve working capital efficiency (reduce DSO, optimize inventory turns).
Increase gross margin by targeted % through data-driven pricing and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
Partner with the CEO and leadership team to align financial strategy with growth plans, capital needs, and operational capacity.
Build financial models for expansion scenarios, including capacity investments, automation, and new customer onboarding.
Serve as a key advisor on contract negotiations, pricing models, and cost structures.
Scalable Accounting Operations
Oversee all accounting functions: GL, AR/AP, payroll, cost accounting, inventory control, and revenue recognition.
Upgrade ERP/financial reporting systems to handle increased transaction volume and complexity.
Automate manual processes where possible to reduce cycle times and error rates.
Cost Accounting & Profitability Management
Maintain and refine standard costing for materials, labor, and overhead; regularly reconcile with actual costs.
Analyze profitability by customer, product line, and contract; recommend actions to improve margins.
Lead cross-functional initiatives to reduce scrap, rework, and non-value-added costs.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts that integrate sales, operations, and capital planning.
Provide monthly financial reporting with variance analysis and recommendations.
Track leading financial indicators to anticipate risks and opportunities.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Optimization
Maintain accurate cash forecasts and ensure adequate liquidity for operations and growth.
Reduce Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and improve collection performance.
Partner with supply chain to optimize inventory levels without compromising service.
Compliance & Audit
Ensure adherence to GAAP and all applicable regulations.
Lead annual audits and tax filings with external auditors and tax advisors.
Implement internal controls that can scale with the business.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Gross Margin Improvement: Target increase of X% year-over-year.
Inventory Turns: Achieve target turn rate aligned with production demands.
Job Cost Accuracy: Maintain within 1% variance of actuals.
DSO Reduction: Improve by X days within 12 months.
Close Cycle Time: Reduce month-end close to 5 business days.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA highly preferred).
7+ years progressive accounting experience; 3+ years in manufacturing, preferably in contract manufacturing or electronics assembly.
Proven track record of supporting revenue growth and scaling operations.
Deep knowledge of ERP/manufacturing systems and cost accounting principles.
Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills.
