Job Overview

A TLC (Taxi and Limousine Commission) Driver is responsible for transporting passengers safely, efficiently, and professionally within New York City and surrounding areas. Licensed under the NYC TLC, drivers may operate taxis, livery vehicles, or for-hire vehicles (such as Uber, Lyft, or black car services). The role requires excellent driving skills, strong customer service, and knowledge of local streets and regulations.

Duties

Operate a TLC-licensed vehicle in compliance with all NYC TLC regulations.

Pick up and drop off passengers at requested locations in a timely and professional manner.

Maintain a clean, well-maintained, and roadworthy vehicle.

Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers with luggage or special needs.

Use GPS or dispatch tools to navigate and accept trip assignments.

Follow all traffic laws and ensure passenger safety at all times.

Report any incidents, violations, or mechanical issues promptly.

Requirements

Valid TLC Driver License issued by NYC Taxi and Limousine Commission.

Valid New York State Class E Driver’s License.

Clean driving record (limited violations/accidents).

Knowledge of NYC streets, boroughs, and traffic patterns.

Ability to communicate clearly with dispatchers and customers.

Customer service skills and professional demeanor.

Must pass background check, drug screening, and defensive driving course.

Qualifications

Active TLC Driver License

Active Class E Driver License

Clean driving record and background check

Completion of TLC Driver Education and passed TLC exam

Ability to speak and understand English (additional languages a plus)

Familiarity with NYC roads, traffic patterns, and neighborhoods
