This is a senior leadership role with an industry leading transport business.

This is suited not only to those from transport and logistics, but also to proven operational leaders from adjacent sectors such as manufacturing, distribution, FMCG, or other complex, high-volume industries.

The role: Lead day-to-day transport operations ensuring on-time, safe, and cost-effective service delivery.

Oversee fleet performance, vehicle utilisation, maintenance, and route efficiency across multiple sectors.

Ensure full compliance with industry regulations and requirements as required by customers.

Manage and develop teams for Transport, Planning, Customs and Customer Service Appraise and set clear KPIs and accountability standards for performance and conduct.

Promote a safety-first, results-driven culture focused on teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.

Maintain and build strong relationships with existing clients across all business areas.

Work with the sales and commercial team to identify and secure new business opportunities supporting RFQs when necessary.

Lead contract implementation and service level reviews with key accounts Control and manage operational budgets, including P&L ownership, cost control, and efficiency optimisation.

Analyse operational data to inform decisions, improve margins, and enhance customer experience.

Contribute to group strategy and innovation, including investment planning, sustainability, and digital transformation.

Apply proven operational leadership skills from sectors such as manufacturing, FMCG, distribution, or supply chain to improve throughput, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Leverage experience in process optimisation, lean methodologies, or continuous improvement gained in high-volume or multi-site environments.

Drive cultural alignment, employee engagement, and performance excellence across diverse operational teams.

Champion cross-functional collaboration to deliver seamless service between operations, sales, finance, and customer service.

Responsible for maintaining and complying with company Health and Safety standards thereby minimising the risk to yourself and any other persons.

Ensure that all Health & Safety policies and procedures in your area of responsibility are complied with and fully maintained.

Contribution to positive communication through team meetings, one-to-one meetings and briefings Ensure Data Protection is adhered to when necessary.

Implement cost savings and efficiencies through KPIs set by the Managing Director The Person: Experience in a senior management role within a large, complex organisation Proven experience managing operations in multiple industries Strong commercial and contractual awareness, including managing SLAs and KPIs Excellent leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills Forward-thinking with the ability to lead change and scale operations Hands-on operator with strong commercial judgement Resilient, calm under pressure, and capable of navigating complex customer demands Background in manufacturing, FMCG, distribution, or supply chain sectors with transferable skills to transport and logistics Track record of delivering operational efficiencies, cost reductions, and performance improvements across multi-site or high-volume operations There is a good package on offer for this position.

A significant basic salary, with a bonus, car allowance, pension and healthcare.
