Join JPMorgan Chase as a Financial Controller – Vice President! The Financial Controller function is primarily focused on ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of the Firm’s books and records, with an emphasis on general ledger, operating systems and infrastructure controls across the entire lifecycle of business transactions. Some of the most common functions and activities that are owned by Financial Controllers are balance sheet reconciliation / certification, balance sheet substantiation and reporting and related governance, inter-entity control & governance, manual accounting / bookings to the GL, contract reviews, month end close process and coordination, and reporting.
As a Vice President Financial Controller within Corporate Controllers, you will oversee financial management for key corporate functions such as Corporate Responsibility, Morgan Health, and the JPMorgan Chase Foundation.
Job responsibilities:
Ensure the accuracy and validity of ledger accounts, including adherence to the firmwide General Ledger Attestation standard governing reconciliation and substantiation
Ensure adherence to P&L and Balance Sheet controls owned by Financial Controllers, including identifying and implementing opportunities for efficiency
Analyze, communicate, and resolve material variances between the general ledger and upstream systems, as defined by line of business
Manage data requests into and out of the Financial Reporting group, serving as liaison between data suppliers and data users, including line-of-business and legal entity controllers
Enhance the overall control environment around the financial reporting function
Mobilize change wherever possible in order to simplify processes and enhance controls
Produce monthly controller’s financial review materials and presentation to senior management review
Manage the production of the JPMC Foundation’s annual financial statements and coordinate with external auditor
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
5 years in accounting with experience in month-end close and compiling stand-alone financial statements
Strong control mindset (standard operating procedures, analytical review, secondary review, automated solution management, etc.) required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (with strong accounting experience)
Experience with a financial consolidation and reporting system (i.e. SAP interface)
Experience managing a staff of skilled professionals
Experience in managing process and workflow enhancement
Advanced verbal and written communication skills
Ability to balance multiple priorities and execute in a constantly changing environment
Ability to partner across all levels of the organization and influence decisions and priorities outside of one’s direct span of control
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Experience preparing executive summary reporting and partnership amongst multiple stake-holders is beneficial
CPA license beneficial but not required
Knowledge of other financial reporting systems beneficial
