JOB TITLE: Property Maintenance Worker
Tentative hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Hours TBD
Job Type: Part-Time (15 to 24 hours per week)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct regular inspections and perform routine maintenance and repairs in the shelter and housing buildings.
Respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general fixes.
Support upkeep of building systems such as HVAC, lighting, and fire safety equipment.
Maintain accurate logs of work completed and supplies used.
Coordinate minor repairs and communicate with Shelter Services Coordinator or the Manager of Housing about larger maintenance needs or contractor work
· Ensure that Harm Reduction containers are emptied regularly
· Empty and clean all waste receptacles in internal and external common areas
· Clean outdoor areas based on seasonal requirements: pick up paper, glass, litter, debris, raking of leaves, snow removal of walkways, salting of required areas.
· Reports Safety Hazard
· Remove graffiti when needed
· Contract Tradespeople/Contractors to obtain quotes for minor to major repairs.
· Manage and support trade workers while on site.
· Other duties as assigned
· Participate in training and meetings as directed by management
Required Skills/Education/Experience
Experience in maintenance or building repair work, preferably in residential or community environments.
Basic skills in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.
Good communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with a diverse team.
Knowledge of materials, disinfectants, equipment, and methods used in custodial work
Computer skills; efficient in Microsoft application including Word and Excel
Must be certified in First Aid/ CPR
Must produce a Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Reference Check
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physically active role involving lifting, climbing, and use of hand and power tools.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals and various weather conditions for outdoor work.
Must maintain respectful interactions with youth and staff in communal living spaces.
Ability to bend and twist, kneel, and stoop, run and crawl.
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Ability to reach in all directions.
