Position Summary

Clarkesville, GA (Habersham County Schools) is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher for grades K5 for the period August 4, 2025 May 22, 2026. This teacher will provide specialized instruction and manage a caseload of 1520 students, including IEP development, case management, and participation in IEP meetings. This role requires active and valid Georgia SPED certification in P12 Special Education General Curriculum or SPED K5 Reading, ELA, Math.

Key Responsibilities

Provide instruction in subjects as assigned by school administration.

Serve as case manager for a caseload of 1520 students, ensuring delivery of individualized instruction.

Write and manage IEPs, conduct and facilitate IEP meetings with parents and staff.

Implement designated curriculum and maintain records per system policy.

Support student behavior management and monitor compliance with school regulations.

Communicate with parents, administer educational screenings, and participate on Student Support Teams.

Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal or Special Education Director.

Required Qualifications

Active Georgia teaching certification in Special Education General Curriculum (P12), or SPED K5 Reading, ELA, or Math certification.

Demonstrated experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings.

Proficiency in IEP development and understanding of federal/state compliance requirements.

Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and ability to collaborate effectively with staff and families.

Position Details

Location: Elementary school setting in Demorest, GA (site assigned during hiring).

Contract Term: August?4,?2025 May?22,?2026 (190 contractual days)

FLSA Status: Exempt (Certified Teacher)

Retirement Plan: TRS

Salary: Certified scale up to approximately $44K$58K, based on experience and qualifications.
