Position Overview
Seeking a process engineer to improve mill processes relating to safety, reliability, cost reduction, and continuous improvement. As a process engineer, you will work closely with process owners to implement process improvements and troubleshoot process failures. This individual will also work closely with customers on quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:
• Coordinating efforts with department supervisors in the areas of safety, environmental, quality, paper machine efficiency, maintenance, root cause failure analysis and profitability.
• Collecting and interpreting process data via data analysis and direct observation.
• Coordinating continuous improvement projects and process development ideas.
• Assisting with daily troubleshooting on the paper machine or secondary fiber.
• Communicating with customers on quality issues and seeking feedback on quality initiatives including food safety.
• Leading quality improvement projects to ensure customer requirements are met.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science or related field.
• One to two years of experience preferred in the Paper Industry or process engineering experience. This includes Co-op and Internship experience in the Paper Industry.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively deliver and reinforce consistent messages at all levels.
• Experience in collecting and analyzing data.
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and statistical software.
• Strong team player who can effectively work with others to meet objectives and timelines.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
