Description
Job Summary:
Oversee the efficient and safe handling, transportation, and delivery of materials including hazardous materials. This role is crucial to ensuring compliance with all safety regulations, while also optimizing transportation rates and coordinating shipments across various channels. This position also involves direct material handling responsibilities, including loading, unloading, staging, and moving of raw materials and finished goods within the facility and during shipping/receiving processes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining cost efficiency.
Oversee the safe handling, packaging, and transportation of hazardous materials in compliance with regulatory requirements, including DOT, OSHA, and EPA guidelines.
Perform physical material handling duties, including loading and unloading trucks, moving materials within the warehouse using forklifts or pallet jacks, and staging materials for shipment or production use.
Ensure accurate labeling and storage of materials, and assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Negotiate transportation rates and contracts with carriers to secure favorable pricing and service levels.
Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including proper documentation for hazardous materials shipments, and conduct regular safety audits to minimize risks.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate shipments to maintain adequate stock and timely deliveries.
Address and resolve any shipping-related issues, including delays, damage, or non-compliance incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Maintain accurate records of shipments, transportation costs, and hazardous material handling for audit and compliance purposes.
Work closely with other departments, including purchasing, warehouse, and customer service teams to streamline logistics and ensure customer satisfaction.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Proficient with SAP or related ERP software
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders
Ability to lift 55 lb package or move a 400lb drum
Ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (certification preferred)
Working knowledge of safe material handling practices and warehouse operations
Education and Experience:
Experience in logistics and supply chain management
In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements for shipping hazardous materials (preferred)
Experience in negotiating transportation rates
Degree or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or related field (preferred)
