PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Training Associate conducts job training for new hire onboarding, new skill, and refresher training and assists hourly employees in the development of skills and techniques needed to perform their job in a poultry processing facility. This role may work on the production floor, backfill workers for times when required to be away, or participate in special projects when not training.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
Learn, understand and be able to correctly perform and train all department production job duties in compliance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements (i.e. SSOP. GMP, USDA, OSHA, etc.)
Introduce employees to their assigned jobs including skill/technique training, rotation procedures, safe work habits, and clock in/out procedures, ensuring new employees are given adequate time and practice in their assigned job; communicate techniques for “hardening” muscles to new employees and follow-up frequently to ensure understanding to reduce risk of injuries
Observe employees during/post training making recommendations to leadership and/ or human resources regarding initial readiness to perform job or need for additional training and/ or job performance/ safety concerns
Work on production line and/ or relieve line employees for restroom breaks or other times they are required to be away from the line when not required to train
Partner with management to develop, review and maintain training materials, teaching techniques and schedules
Coordinate all training sessions including scheduling classes, organizing logistics and training venues, and maintaining equipment used for training
Wear and ensure others wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in all areas helping to promote a zero-accident culture
Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Minimum one (1) year poultry processing experience; previous employee training experience preferred
Knowledge and understanding of all legal requirements surrounding safety and food production (i.e. GMP, USDA, OSHA, etc.)
Excellent presentation skills with ability to present ideas, concepts, issues and/or questions to employees in a well thought out, respectful, patient, and professional manner
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) to all levels in a professional manner; multi-lingual preferred
Ability to evaluate employee performance and effectively correct/ retrain employees exhibiting behaviors contrary to training in a non-demeaning manner
Basic computer skills
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work non-standard shifts including Holidays, Weekends and extended shift when necessary to meet business objectives
Ability to work in cold, wet environment (45ºF, 4ºC)
Ability to stand and/or walk throughout shift
Will be exposed to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production
Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
Exposure to outdoor, wet and/or dusty environment
Work around live and/or raw animal odors
