OVERVIEW:

Plans, organizes, and manages the activities of assigned branch in conformance with established Bank strategies, policies and procedures. Supports, and adheres to, the Bank’s strategic plan as well as established policies and procedures, and recommends changes to support prescribed requirements or enhance operational efficiencies.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and the community in which it serves.

1. Responsible for the proper functioning of the branch commensurate with established bank policies and procedures and for the expansion of the branch’s customer base. Works to implement and achieve branch and individual goals by periodically monitoring performance to these goals under the supervision of the Regional Banking Officer and Senior Retail Banking Officer.

2. Actively participates in customer calls with Commercial Lenders, Business Development Officers, Regional Banking Officers, and other Bank officers. Actively participates in customer calls with Business Partners as coordinated by the Regional Branch Administrator. Meets regularly with the Regional Banking Officer to review business development efforts and identify prospects. Measures and reports on branch deposit growth and business calling efforts, monthly.

3. Provides a wide variety of customer services. May open all types of accounts. Provides customers with counsel and advice within scope of authority. Troubleshoots and reconciles problems and complaints referred by customers and subordinates. Provides information on lending products and services and performs a variety of mortgage and commercial loan referral functions. Takes consumer and business loan applications and closes loans.

4. Manages assigned branch staff of 6+ and Core Deposits greater than $100 million. Schedules employees to meet business demand, while monitoring overtime. Ensures the efficient and courteous delivery of customer services by assigned staff. Monitors teller productivity in comparison to branch established goals. Provides ongoing guidance, training, and motivation. May participate in the hiring, promotion, and termination recommendation process. Sees that payroll records are correct and kept current.

5. Conducts monthly staff meetings and communicates corporate goals and objectives established by Senior Management. Provides feedback on branch performance and coaches and motivates branch staff to recognize and fulfill sales and service expectations. Ensures staff fulfills customer’s financial needs by utilizing the sales process, which may include referring to business partners, closing sales, and completing Customer Summaries. Manages branch’s Personal Banker Portfolio ensuring contacts are being made as outlined in the Personal Banker Program.

6. Performs various branch audits and responds to Internal Audit Findings. Monitors teller short/over; processes daily overdrafts; reviews daily reports; monitors hard to collect and Quality Control for new accounts and account changes.

7. Keeps abreast of regulatory compliance and developments within the retail banking field. Attends relevant courses and seminars. Recommends procedural changes, as needed, to support prescribed requirements.

8. Ensures the proper maintenance of branch grounds, facilities, and equipment. Oversees the security of branch premises.

9. Represents the Bank through participation in various community and industry related activities. Actively promotes interest in the Bank wherever and whenever possible. Encouraged to participate on nonprofit community boards.

SCOPE:

This position description covers all incumbents acting in the capacity of branch manager. The focus of individual positions and the associated scope of responsibility of an individual branch manager is dependent upon the size of the assigned branch. Larger branches typically have much higher volumes of transactions, more staff to manage, more lending activity and potential higher business development expectations than smaller branches.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

At least an Associates degree or its equivalent in banking, with related course work and training in finance, retail management, etc. At least five years experience in branch supervision, or equivalent, relevant experience. Excellent management, customer service, sales/business development and problem solving skills. Demonstrated working knowledge of the Bank’s products and services. Able to use various office equipment including computer terminal. May be required to work extended or weekend hours.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

Establishes short-range plans and objectives within scope of Bank-wide policies and goals. Consults with departmental management regarding policy interpretation or exceptions.
