Job Description for Document Control Specialist:

Position Summary:

The Document Control Specialist is responsible for managing and executing the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process, maintaining accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs), Approved Manufacturer Lists (AMLs), and ERP system data to support engineering, purchasing, and production. This role contributes to continuous improvement and cross-functional alignment to ensure accuracy and compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Engineering Change Management

Process ECO requests from customers or Program Managers in ERP.

Write and route Omega ECOs for cross-functional approval.

Implement ECO changes across BOM, AML, Part Master, Revisions, and Standard Cost.

Perform cost roll-ups as needed and post ECO documentation.

BOM & AML Maintenance

Upload and maintain BOMs, AMLs, and part data in the ERP system for new and existing assemblies.

Analyze and clean up AMLs to ensure accurate purchasing and inventory management.

Handle daily AML updates requested by Program Managers and Purchasing.

Part Master and Special Handling

Assign Omega part numbers for BOMs with only Manufacturer Part Numbers (MPNs).

Tag lot codes and serial numbers per customer prefix lists.

Mark BOM lines requiring special handling based on PM instructions.

Systems and Process Improvement

Enable and participate in continuous improvement initiatives across departments.

Assist Document Control Manager in mapping activities and training team members.

Maintain documentation accuracy, traceability, and compliance.

Communication and Collaboration

Maintain clear and timely communication with Program Managers and cross-functional teams.

Process and respond to Technical Inquiries (TIs) per standard procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.

Minimum 5 years of experience using ERP systems in a contract manufacturing environment (preferably Expandable).

Strong understanding of CM/EMS documentation standards (BOMs, ECOs, AMLs, etc.).

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).

Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work under pressure.

Excellent attention to detail and process accuracy.
