POSITION: LIBRARY AIDE / TECHNOLOGY AIDE

RESPONSIBLE TO: BUILDING PRINCIPAL/CURRICULUM DIRECTORS

JOB GOAL: To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning Media Center, that provides an environment that encourages and supports learning. The library aide also provides students, staff, and parents access to reading materials, curricular materials, and other media supporting the goals of the school.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

One year related experience preferred

Required to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board Of Education may find appropriate

Should be an active reader

Have basic computer knowledge

Collaborates with staff, administration, and the community.

Educational Aide Permit from the State Board of Education

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Helps students locate reading and instructional materials

Demonstrates knowledge of book vendors and their websites to obtain books and educational materials.

Generates notices to teachers and students concerning overdue and reserved books.

Makes simple repairs on damaged books.

Maintains library and technology collection including physical inventories, preparation of lists for missing books, and books to be removed from the collection, Chromebooks and carts, and headphones.

Shelves returned books in a timely manner and maintains shelved books for ease in retrieval.

Presents a positive image to students, staff, parents and the community.

Encourages students of all ages to use the online library catalog and to be proactive on how to search for reading materials; processes new books in the circulation software and prepares the item for shelving.

Keeps informed of and/or researches what books would appeal to and support students and teaching staff, stay current with technologies used at LHSD and search for technology resources that may be used in the future.

Keeps current on research techniques, plagiarism issues and Internet safety and discusses with staff and students, and keeps current with age appropriate internet sites.

Assist teachers and students with technology needs, and partner with teachers on the computer needs in the classroom as well as consulting with staff on maintaining and aligning collection to student and staff needs.

Aide teachers with technology integration in lessons

Troubleshoot chromebook problems that occur during Library/Technology classes

Partner with teachers to reset passwords as beginning of school year

Practice keyboarding skills, review parts of the chromebook and keys functions

Ability to work with other media equipment and computer peripherals

Continue developing and creating an innovative space for students to learn and grow

18. Create & Maintain sub plans.

19. Performs such other duties as directed by the principal as pertains to job description.
