POSITION SUMMARY
Under direction of the Communications and Community Engagement Director, the Civic Center & Recreation Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of the City’s Civic Center (RCC) and recreational program offerings. Duties include planning, coordinating, and managing the Civic Center’s activities and recreational programs including but not limited to room rentals, special event bookings, room set-up and tear-down, recreational instructor agreements and schedules, event services, and overall RCC marketing. Will also be responsible for special event programming that falls under the RCC including special event dances and other programming opportunities as they arise.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Selects, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff
Establishes work schedules, rules and performance standards, annual performance evaluations, and initiates and implements disciplinary actions as warranted
Maintains a healthy and safe working environment
Provides for the training and motivation of subordinates to make full use of individual capabilities and to meet changing system demands
Center Promotions
Develops and implements strategic plans by identifying and researching opportunities for Civic Center rentals and recreation programs that align with City objectives
Creates and manages public and community relations efforts with a focus on promoting the Civic Center and recreation programs to local organizations, civic groups, and potential renters
Builds and maintains strong relationships with booking agents, meeting planners, and community organizations to increase usage of the Civic Center
Oversees the scheduling, negotiation, and administration of Civic Center rental contracts and recreational program agreements
Manages the operations for building maintenance, housekeeping, security, information technology, booking and events services, and other services of the Civic Center
May be required to set-up and dismantle tables, chairs and other equipment for meetings, classes and events
Develops, implements, and monitors the Civic Center and recreation programs’ operating budgets
Develops short and long-range plans and goals to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the facility
Oversees the collection of fees, depositing funds and related recordkeeping and accounting
Ensures an effective reporting system to keep city officials informed on the operations of the Civic Center
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in Business, Recreation, Parks, Tourism, Communications or a related field
Three (3) years of full-time paid experience in program or rental event management
OR
High School Diploma or successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) Test
Five (5) years of full-time paid experience in program or rental event management
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License
Reliable transportation and liability insurance
