IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator (Part-Time)

Position Overview

Union Day School, an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, seeks an experienced and passionate Part-Time IB MYP Coordinator to lead, support, and sustain the successful implementation of the IB Middle Years Programme across grades 6-10. The ideal candidate will have direct MYP experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and parents to ensure fidelity to IB standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership & Compliance

Serve as the school’s primary liaison with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) for the MYP.

Ensure the school remains in alignment with the IB Programme Standards and Practices.

Lead the preparation and submission of all IB-required documentation, including programme evaluations and annual reports.

Monitor and guide curriculum development to ensure units of inquiry meet IB expectations for Approaches to Learning (ATLs), global contexts, and assessment criteria.

Curriculum & Instruction Support

Support teachers in developing, refining, and implementing MYP units of inquiry that integrate IB philosophy and state standards.

Facilitate collaborative planning sessions with MYP teachers.

Provide coaching and resources to staff to strengthen ATL skills integration and interdisciplinary learning.

Professional Development

Identify and coordinate IB-recognized professional development opportunities for MYP staff.

Lead in-house professional learning sessions to deepen staff understanding of the MYP framework.

Mentor new staff to ensure successful onboarding into the MYP.

Assessment & Reporting

Support teachers in designing and implementing MYP criterion-based assessments.

Monitor assessment practices to ensure alignment with IB requirements.

Assist in the reporting of student achievement in MYP subject groups and the Personal Project.

Community Engagement

Communicate the MYP philosophy, structure, and expectations to parents, students, and the broader school community.

Support MYP-related events, exhibitions, and student showcases.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Required: Minimum of 2 years of direct IB MYP teaching or coordinating experience.

Strong knowledge of IB MYP framework, standards, and practices.

Proven ability to lead and collaborate with diverse teams.

Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

COMPENSATION:

Based on Experience, Degree/certification, NC State Salary Guide, and Union County Licensed Teacher Supplement.
