St. Croix Health is looking for a casual Pharmacy Apprentice to join our team! This position will work Monday - Friday, day hours. Primary location is St. Croix Falls, but would float to Frederic and Unity locations as needed.
The Pharmacy Apprentice plays a supportive role in the daily operations of the pharmacy, assisting Pharmacists, Technicians, and Assistants. This is a learning position focused on gaining hands-on experience in areas such as customer service, medication, preparation and distribution, inventory management and recordkeeping. The Apprentice will also perform various assigned tasks to help maintain the efficiency and organization of the pharmacy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Customer Service
Welcome customers and assist in locating products or processing prescription pickups.
Operate cash register to process cash or credit sales
Answer telephone inquiries, referring caller to technician or pharmacist when necessary
Efficient and effective workflow with smooth handoffs to technician or pharmacist
Provide exceptional service to both patients and colleagues, maintaining a positive and supportive environment. 2. Non-Prescription Merchandise and Supplies
Proactive ordering of merchandise
Unpack, sort, count, and label incoming merchandise 3. Maintain Pharmacy Environment
Maintain and clean work areas and shelves
Shelf facing of merchandise 4. Process Prescriptions
Learn to receive prescriptions, refills requests, and verify information is complete and accurate
Process prescriptions to insurance
Prepack bulk medications, fill bottles with prescribed medications, and affix labels
File prescriptions
Mix pharmaceutical preparations according to written prescriptions 5. Medication Stock and Inventory
Maintain current stock, monitor for stock outs, expiration dates
Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs
Order, label, and count stock of medications, chemicals, or supplies and update inventory data in computer Requirements
Education & Licensure:
16 years old and part of a Wisconsin apprenticeship program through high school*
Or 18 years old and a high school diploma or equivalent required*
Must be registered in Wisconsin to work in a pharmacy at time of hire Experience:
Interest in healthcare
Ability to utilize a computer and varying software applications
Willingness to learn healthcare facility policies and procedures *Per Wis. Stat. § 106.13(2m)
