Description:
This position involves working in a unique unit that sees a variety of patients.
Patients present with urgent and non-urgent conditions but are typically more stable than those in the emergency room.
Most patients are discharged home, but some may require admission to a higher level of care.
Patients are scheduled based on calls received from a primary team or oncologist.
They may come from other areas of the healthcare facility or directly from home.
This is a smaller unit that fosters strong relationships among staff members.
A supportive environment is created for the nursing staff.
Nurses have the opportunity to develop numerous skills and engage with patients in a less acute setting.
Common patient diagnoses include sickle cell crisis, fever, abdominal pain, uncontrolled pain, anemia, and nausea.
Interdisciplinary support includes multiple teams and services to enhance patient care.
Candidates must be aware of the urgency regarding the fingerprinting process required for compliance.
Reference requirements include two professional references, one of which must come from a formal leadership role.
Traveling nurses must have a valid compact or state license at the time of submission.
Education should stem from an accredited program.
