ATHENA EMR BILLING SPECIALIST FOR DOCTOR'S OFFICE

Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced, aggressive, and results-driven medical billing professional with deep expertise in Athena billing workflows. Your mission: clear all manager holds in Athena — 100% — within 3 months so our team can fully transition to the eClinicalWorks (eCW) billing platform.

If you do not already have proven, hands-on experience in Athena billing with measurable results, this position is not for you. We are not looking for trainees or “fast learners.” We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running on day one and deliver.

Responsibilities

Identify, prioritize, and resolve all manager holds in Athena within the 3-month project period.

Aggressively follow up on outstanding claims, denials, and payer communications.

Audit and correct coding, modifiers, and documentation to ensure clean claim submission.

Communicate proactively with our team to track progress and address bottlenecks immediately.

Prepare status reports showing weekly and monthly progress toward the 100% clearance goal.

Requirements

Proven expertise in Athena billing — specifically resolving manager holds and clearing aged claims.

Minimum 3+ years of hands-on medical billing experience in a high-volume environment.

Strong understanding of payer rules, denial management, and medical coding best practices.

Ability to work independently and aggressively to meet strict deadlines.

Excellent communication skills — clear, concise, and proactive.
