Major Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for performing technical duties, to include analyzing and approving purchase orders, and end-user training duties in support of government purchasing procedures.
Analyzes and approves purchase orders; reviews documents for accuracy; performs modifications and cancellations of documents as needed; enters and retrieves a variety of information in order to update records, process transactions, and respond to information requests.
Assists end-users with purchasing issues.
Adds new vendors into the financial system; modifies existing vendor information.
Provides support for the Purchasing Card Program to include: Conducts Purchasing card training for end users; reviews and verifies card reconciliations; acts as liaison with the bank to resolve card issues; prepares new card request and other duties related to the Pcard system as needed.
Prints, processes, and mails purchase documents.
Trains end-users in the financial system used to process purchase documents; provides new employee and refresher training.
Processes, tracks, and coordinates surplus equipment; coordinates transfer to surplus warehouse; coordinate annual auction with City Contractor.
Maintains inventory of office supplies and paper supplies for the Purchasing Division.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Educational and Training Requirements
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. The employee must occasionally lift light objects.
