The role of an academic is both challenging and rewarding. Beyond possessing the necessary knowledge and skillsets, the ideal candidate must have a genuine passion for working with youth, nurturing their growth, and shaping their character. The position offers opportunities to develop curricula, introduce new courses, and participate in consultancy and applied research projects. In this role, the appointee will contribute to the school's strategic objectives by building and strengthening industry partnerships, driving innovation, and promoting excellence in Aeronautical Engineering education. Administrative responsibilities related to teaching and supporting the School's or Institution's strategic initiatives will also be integral to the job. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, innovative, and proactive, with strong communication skills and the ability to inspire and engage others.

The appointee should be competent to teach in any of the following subjects:

• Aircraft Powerplants

• Aircraft Structure

• Fundamentals of flight (Aerodynamics)

• Engineering Materials/Aerospace Materials

[What you will be working on]

Responsibilities:

Design and deliver lessons, tutorials, and laboratory sessions for internal stakeholders, students (young adults and adult learners), and industry professionals using engaging and effective teaching strategies.

Provide mentorship and pastoral care to support student development and well-being.

Establish and maintain a network of industry connections, collaborating on industry-sponsored projects to enhance learning and professional opportunities.

Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in Aeronautical Engineering, with a focus on aircraft engine repair and overhaul, to ensure the curriculum aligns with evolving industry requirements.

Contribute to the development of PET/CET curricula by enhancing Aeronautical modules, including Aircraft Powerplants and Aircraft Structure, as part of the Aerospace Competency Group. This involves reviewing and auditing existing content to propose improvements that enhance student performance, learning outcomes, and employability.

Lead the development of new modules related to Aircraft Engine Repair and Overhaul to ensure the curriculum remains current and relevant to industry demands.

Actively engage and collaborate with industry partners to enrich students' learning experiences through initiatives such as industry visits, collaborative projects, internship programs, and overseas learning opportunities.

Support diploma course administration and contribute to the overall operations of the school as a member of the Course Management Team.

Requirements:

Possess relevant qualifications in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields of study.

At least 2 years of relevant skillsets/knowledge in the following area:

Aircraft Engine Repair and Overhaul (R&D/Assembly/Disassembly/Inspection/Cleaning etc.)

People-oriented individual with strong interpersonal, written and communication skills.

Self-driven, independent and possess readiness to work as a team.

Passionate about education and possess strong interest in teaching and mentoring both young adults and adult learners.

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
