Schedule: Full-time

On behalf of the Integrated Systems of Academic Support unit and Literacy Achievement and Academic Success section, serves as an Ohio Department of Education and Workforce program administrator responsible for World Languages and Cultures and Global Education.

Global Education:

· Lead and support the J-1 visa sponsorship program as designated by the U.S Department of State

· Determine host districts’ visiting teacher needs through an annual application process

· Recruit new visiting teachers, recommend them to potential host districts and oversee their employment onboarding and licensure

· Manage the two-month process of acquiring J-1 visas for our new visiting teachers

· Conduct an annual analysis of costs associated with serving as a visiting teacher in Ohio and updating the Financial Disclosure the State Department requires us to post on our website and share that information with new recruits

· Develop and provide required orientation and training for new visiting teachers

· Oversee visiting teacher placements and progress via annual site visits, continuous email support and additional visits, if needed.

· Manage and maintain all visiting teacher records in the Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS)

· Oversee all visiting teachers’ two State Department-required cross-cultural activities & secure a required annual report from each teacher documenting his/her intercultural accomplishments

· Write and gain approval by Senior Leadership for the Department’s annual program report to the Department of State

· Manage the re-designation of the Department’s J-1 visa program every other year

· Lead the Department’s Teaching English in Taiwan Program, including recruitment and orientation of Ohio candidates who seek to teach English in Taiwan.

· Maintain & regularly update the information provided on the International Teacher Exchanges webpages

· Serve as the Department’s Responsible Officer for its J-1 visa sponsorship program as designated by the U.S. Department of State.

· Oversee activities related to the creation of new and existing Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and the periodic renewal of existing MOUs with the Department’s legal team and our international partners

World Languages and Cultures:

· Contribute to WLC team’s work on creating and implementing world language standards

· Contribute to WLC team’s work on revising and implementing world language model curriculum

· Coordination of Ohio Seal of Biliteracy Program, including maintaining/updating website resources and coordinating with the Office of Graduate Success.

· Provide customer service support related to standards, model curriculum, best instructional practices for second language acquisition, Ohio Seal of Biliteracy, Credit Flexibility

· Provide support for Ohio’s dual language immersion (DLI) programs, including an informal support network for Ohio DLI program administrators and teachers, advocacy support for community stakeholders seeking local DLI program implementation, periodic Ohio DLI summits and collaboration with university DLI researchers

· Participate in WLC team and OLIS activities related to High Quality Instructional Materials

· Stays current and disseminates the latest research, literature, best practices, and policy changes (e.g., accreditation, graduation credit, accessibility) in World Languages and Culture education.

· Serve as a grades K-12 World Language and Cultures expert on committees (i.e., internal & external initiatives & projects, including assessment)

· Develops, implements and presents professional learning for external stakeholders;

· Recommends professional learning needs and/or pathways related to Ohio’s Learning Standards, Ohio’s Model Curricula, and Ohio’s I-MTSS Framework;

· Maintains webpages and external-facing resources, including guidance documents aligned with Ohio’s Learning Standards and Model Curriculum and external communications (GovDelivery, EdConnection, etc.)

I-MTSS

· Stay current and disseminate the latest I-MTSS research, literature, and best practices, and review federal and state policies, research, and data in applying components of an MTSS framework.

· Collaborate with agency content expertise and professional learning developed for K-12 teaching, learning, and assessments, ensuring resources align with the Ohio I-MTSS framework.

· Collaborate across offices to develop professional learning opportunities for K-12 I-MTSS implementation and family support.

· Supports the implementation of Ohio’s IMTSS Framework statewide

Performs other duties as assigned.

The work location of this position is 25 South Front Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. You will be required to report to this work location full-time, if selected.

If this position is filled with an internal employee who has an approved telework agreement, the employee may be required to report in-person during the initial training period.

5 yrs. trg. or 5 yrs. exp. in business administration, management or public administration.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management or public administration; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program for academic field of study commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on File; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in supervisory, administrative, managerial &/or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.

-Or 1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 2, 63123.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
