Summary:

The Fiduciary Governance Director manages risk and compliance of the institutional and personal wealth business lines (presently including Investment Management, Personal Trust, Specialty Trust, and Corporate Trust & Custody Services) in accordance with Huntington’s aggregate moderate-to-low risk appetite and within the segments defined risk appetite.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Direct and dotted line management reporting responsibility for colleagues in the business units who perform governance, risk, and compliance functions, fostering an environment of teamwork, communication, and colleague participation.

Effectively manage internal and external audit, compliance, and regulatory matters, including conflicts of interest, self-dealing, other Reg 9 requirements and SOC-1 examinations.

Responsibility for development, implementation and monitoring the adherence to policies and procedures as well as delivery of fiduciary products and services.

Proactively identify, measure, monitor, control, and report risk on an ongoing basis, whether internal or external, reflected by fiduciary litigation, new caselaw, cyber-crime, IT changes, new regulations, and statutory law impacting assigned business lines is identified and effectively implemented. Strong working relationship with audit, legal, risk, and compliance required.

Participates in development and adherence to the Bank’s fiduciary governance structure through involvement in designated committees.

Serves as fiduciary subject matter expert for institutional and personal wealth and investment management business lines, business unit compliance, Segment Risk, Corporate Compliance, and Internal Audit and develop and manage fiduciary training framework to assist in working together as one team with urgency, focus, and flawless execution.

Facilitate communication with management and partners to effectively challenge and enhance best practices, process, and procedure to identify continuous improvement opportunities.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

10+ years of experience in fiduciary services business and risk management.

Expert understanding of Institutional & Personal Trust products and services, including applicable legal, tax, and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Juris Doctor with practice experience in the areas of trust and estate administration and fiduciary litigation or other advanced degrees (e.g., CPA, CFP).

Strong fiduciary management skills and current knowledge of applicable fiduciary federal, state and local laws.

Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills evidence by experience acting independently with regulators and executive management.

Strong risk and operational experience.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and assignments in a changing environment with competing priorities while meeting tight deadlines.

Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skill.
