As a Full Time Purchasing & Inventory specialist at Barrett Petfood in Brainerd, MN, you will play a crucial role in managing our supply chain operations. This position involves daily collaboration with vendors to ensure smooth procurement processes while overseeing accurate inventory management. You will work extensively on the computer, utilizing various software tools to track purchasing orders and inventory levels. In addition, effective communication will be key, as you'll connect with multiple stakeholders throughout the day via phone and email to address inquiries and resolve any supply chain challenges.

Report out and analyze purchase demands from the ERP system to determine upcoming needs according to the production schedule.

Understand, coordinate, and anticipate lead times on needed materials.

Issue day-to-day purchase orders with suppliers.

Manage communication on lead time modifications and availability of materials needed.

Understand and track the shelf-life of materials, keeping waste to a minimum.

Coordinate with Logistics Coordinator on delivery schedule of purchases

Track pricing discrepancies with accounting and supplier follow-up if needed.

Keep up with day-to-day demand of raw materials to adequately supply the production schedule.

Ensure adequate and appropriate documentation exists with suppliers.

Work with production staff on shipping or product issues and resolve them with the suppliers as needed.What we're looking for in a Purchasing & Inventory
