Qualifications:
Bachelors Engineering: Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace
8 years Space/Satellite avionics is a must (concept through verification)
Altium, eCAD, Nice to have mCAD : Experience designing boards from scratch or updating heritage designs
Familiarity with FPGA hardware implementation for flight applications
Communication standards, such as RS-422/485, MIL-STD-1553, SpaceWire/Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C
Hands-on hardware development:
Electrical circuit design (analog and digital)
Electrical schematics and PCB layout
Component selection (including for harsh environments)
Testing, troubleshooting, and resolving failure modes
Understanding of unit, subsystem, and system-level performance
Spaceflight experience or demonstrable knowledge of:
Space environments (LEO, MEO, GEO)
Semiconductor and space physics
COTS component qualification
Triple-E part selection
Full design ownership: Must be able to walk through the full board-level design process from concept to build.
Experience with contract manufacturers: e.g., Naprotech, Sanmina
Familiarity with FPGA hardware implementation for flight applications
Responsibilities:
Owner from concept to verification, production and operation of avionics hardware for space applications.
Provide technical leadership and provide guidance to other engineers to complete the overall design of the avionics boxes
Develop electrical schematics, PCB board layouts, specifications
Execute test activities in the laboratory
Provide technical leadership and provide guidance to other engineers to complete the overall design of the avionics boxes
Work with hardware in the laboratory to verify it is configured and communicates properly with other avionics
Troubleshoot problems on the real spacecraft
Collaborate closely with electrical, mechanical, test and system engineers
