With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. Pepper Construction provides clients the experience and resources of a national company, combined with the hands-on approach of a local company.

Responsibilities: Ironworkers may perform any combination of tasks to assist on the construction site. This position performs a wide variety of duties and tasks that often require assisting other tradespeople, including laborers and carpenters. Responsibilities include connecting columns, beams, and girders with bolts or welding them into place, reinforcing/tying rebar in concrete construction, unloading and stacking prefabricated steel, using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment to cut, bend, and weld steel, placing and setting heavy machinery, erecting and/or dismantling structural steel frames of structures, operating forklifts and other heavy equipment to lift steel columns, beams, and girders according to blueprints, working at heights and from aerial work platforms, and rigging structural-steel members to hoist cables using chains, cables, or rope.

Qualifications: A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in commercial construction, preferred. Proficient in industry tools and equipment, such as hand and power tools and welding devices. OSHA 10 preferred. Operator's certificate preferred. Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to multi-task. Task-oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexible availability, including some overtime, weekends, and night shifts. Able to lift at least 35 pounds, unassisted, and stand for extended periods.
