The position coordinates with the manufacturing planner to ensure all pack outs are planned and executed on time and in full to help ensure customer satisfaction. The candidate will lead the packing team members and coordinate with the temporary labor lead to ensure effective and efficient execution of pack outs.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinates to ensure pick list accuracy.

Ensures proper equipment (drills, staple guns, other hand tools, etc.) is available to and in working order for the Packing Team Members.

Performs basic maintenance on equipment as needed and alerts the Maintenance Dept. to any more complete service or repairs required.

Trains staff on the use of equipment.

May perform the duties of absent staff to maintain production.

Ensures quality and quantity check on items prior to starting the pack out

Communicates quality issues to proper source, and follows up on correction.

Leads Team Members in packing finished products in cartons, boxes or other containers for shipment or storage.

Ensures proper fits or arrangement of articles in the container according to packing specifications for each job.

Keeps records of items packed.

Ensures processes are in place to inspect parts against checklist or packing list to guarantee completeness of packing job.

Ensures packing lists are prepared and/or enclosed as required.

Responsible for the cleanliness of the pack lines and packing area.

Follows all safety policies and procedures at all times to ensure 100% safe work environment.

Coordinates with Planner to ensure automated systems inputs and dates relating to the pack out are updated and accurate.

Coordinates with the Pack Supervisor for resources required for pack outs (i.e., pack area, staffing, equipment, etc.)

Maintains and provides detailed reports on pack line OTIF, Productivity, and others.

Fills out proper forms (MITR) to send product to its final destination.

Determines pack line set up and most efficient/lean way to set up the pack.

Sets up the pack line and verifies all needed items are in place and labeled correctly.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent required.

A minimum of 2 years pick & pack and assembly line experience required with at least 2 years of packing, assembly or production lead experience.

Experience staging packing lines and equipment set-up.

Scheduling and Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.

Ability to read and interpret spreadsheets, inventory lists and packing lists.

Use of computer systems, including Microsoft Office Products and ERP system required.

Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, decimals and fractions.

Requires strong leadership and communication skills.

Must work well in a fast-paced environment.

Capable of receiving, understanding and effectively communicating instructions in verbal, written or diagram form.

Has the desire and ability to drive innovations and improvements across all pack lines.

Working knowledge and understanding of Spanish is a plus.

Must work well as part of a team.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

Ability to frequently lift 25 lbs. and occasionally lift 50 lbs.

Ability to spend majority of standard shift on his/her feet.

Must be capable of frequently stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling and feeling.

Must be able to focus at varying distances, have good depth perception, and capable of distinguishing colors accurately.

Will work in a non-air conditioned warehouse environment, around noise and vibrations and among dust, fumes and other atmospheric conditions.

Ability to work overtime, with occasional need for flexible hours.
