Job Summary:
We are seeking a Full-Time experienced Marine Technician to join our growing marine service team at our Wolfeboro Marina. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing daily operations in the shop, coordinating repairs, managing technicians, and ensuring all service work meets the highest quality standards. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with Volvo marine engines and Vodia diagnostic software, combined with strong leadership and organizational skills.
Job Summary:
The Shop Foreman will report to the Service Manager and serve as the primary point of contact between the service team and management. This position involves a mix of supervisory duties, advanced diagnostics, and hands-on mechanical work. You will oversee a team of marine mechanics and ensure repairs are completed efficiently, accurately, and to customer satisfaction.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Supervise and support marine technicians in diagnostics, repairs, and general workflow
Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics using Volvo Vodia software
Coordinate work schedules, job assignments, and quality control of all service work
Train and mentor team members on repair techniques and manufacturer procedures
Communicate with Service Manager regarding repair timelines, parts, and customer needs
Perform and oversee electrical diagnostics and engine repairs
Disassemble and inspect engines, transmissions, and components for wear or damage
Rebuild or replace major components such as outdrives, fuel systems, and accessories
Ensure repairs are completed on schedule and meet internal standards
Maintain a clean and organized shop environment
Maintain certifications and attend Volvo, Yamaha, Mercury, Ilmore and other OEM trainings as needed
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
Minimum 2–3 years experience in marine engine repair or similar mechanical field
Experience with Volvo engines and Vodia diagnostic systems required
Strong knowledge of marine electrical, fuel, cooling, and propulsion systems
Proven leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Mercury, Yamaha, or Volvo certifications a plus
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must have or be willing to obtain a Boater’s License
Must have a valid Driver’s License
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
Comfortable working in confined spaces and on boats
Capable of climbing ladders and performing physical tasks in a marine environment
Compensation:
Salary: $50,000 – $70,000/year, depending on experience
