Reports To: High School Principal

Position Goal: This position will serve as a bridge between the school and central administration Teaching and Learning Team to ensure alignment with the District's instructional vision. Contributes to the establishment of a positive school climate that promotes academic achievement, college and career readiness, instructional effectiveness, and the professional growth of staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties may be assigned. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following fundamental duties:

Supports the organizational vision, mission and strategic goals for student achievement that result in high expectations, attainment of academic standards, increased graduation rates, equity and inclusion for all students and staff across all high school campuses and programs, including students enrolled in the virtual academy and credit recovery.

Serves as the visible instructional leader by communicating and reinforcing the District's instructional vision, regularly visiting classrooms, actively designing and participating in professional development activities and providing on-going teacher feedback.

Assists the Principal in supporting a positive school climate to promote student growth and staff development.

Actively collaborates and communicates with the High School Principal and the Superintendent's Office as well as with fellow administrators in Central Office, the Career and Technology Center and PreK-8 to ensure compliance and alignment with district-wide instructional programming.

Uses data systematically to inform decision-making processes for the attainment of strategic goals and objectives.

Engages in shared decision-making and actively models behaviors that promote a sense of empowerment and capacity-building among administrators, staff, parents, students and other stakeholders.

Designs and implements data-driven systems of continuous school improvement including, but not limited to: developing and implementing a school improvement plan, monitoring and evaluating progress toward achieving school improvement goals and student outcomes, revising school improvement goals, outcomes, and instructional practices based on data analysis.

Assists the Principal to ensure transparent, strategic and equitable use of human and financial resources to meet instructional goals and support teacher needs.

Collaborates with the human resources department to recruit, hire, onboard and retain high quality staff that meets the diverse needs of students.

Supervises and evaluates staff in a timely, fair and equitable manner following district procedures and uses the results to improve performance.

Provides mentoring and coaching to administrative and professional staff.

Ensures compliance with federal, state and district mandates, as well as all contractual agreements.

Creates, revises, communicates and enforces clear instructional expectations, support structures, and procedures for all staff and students.

Assists the Principal in designing and utilizing a system of open communication that provides for the timely, responsible sharing of information to, from, and with high school staff, students, families, and stakeholders in various formats through different media.

Assists the Principal in resolving school-based problems/conflicts in a fair, impartial and consistent way and provides opportunities for affected stakeholders to express opinions and discuss options to address discordant issues.

Ensures that the district's high school curricula are implemented with fidelity and that district-approved resources are utilized throughout all high school campuses.

Monitors the effectiveness of and provides timely feedback to professional and support staff as assigned in the domains of: Planning and Preparation, Classroom Instruction, Instruction, Professional Responsibilities.

Leads school efforts to set and monitor rigorous learning goals for all students and establish safety nets for struggling students, including, but not limited to: English learners, students with limited or interrupted formal education, students with disabilities, homeless students, foster students, and students with behavioral/mental health concerns.

Holds staff members responsible and accountable for ensuring that all students achieve the rigorous outcomes established for them.

Assists the Principal in implementing research-based scheduling practices in a systematic manner to maximize instructional and planning time.

Contributes to the establishment of a culture that encourages and welcomes families and community members and seeks ways in which to engage them in student learning.

Participates in school- and community-based programs, competitions, shows and events throughout the year.

Displays high standards of ethics, honesty, integrity, and confidentiality in interactions with students, staff, and stakeholders.

Targets professional development toward the improvement of learning experiences for all high school students, including quality of classroom instruction and the ability of teachers to meet the needs of all students.

Routinely participates in professional development for his/her own professional growth and keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession.

Interprets and enforces district policies and administrative regulations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises all professional and support staff involved in instructional programs, as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Appropriate Master's Degree required; Minimum 5 years teaching or related experience at the high school level preferred; Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience required, with more than 5 preferred. Teaching and/or supervisory experience in large and/or urban public school settings is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Teaching Certificate, PA Administrative Certification - K-12 Principal (or 7-12 Principal Certification)

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common professional and technical journals, financial reports, governmental regulations and legal documents.

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the public, staff, regulatory agencies, or members of the community.

Ability to write reports, correspondence and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and concerns from professional and support staff, public groups, governmental agencies and District Administrators.

Ability to communicate effectively.

Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions and percentages.

Ability to apply financial concepts.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to use correct grammar, sentence structure and spelling.

Ability to compose clear, concise sentences and paragraphs.

Ability to organize the office setting to efficiently accomplish tasks.

Ability to work under the supervision of the Superintendent and/or his/her designee and make appropriate work-related decisions.

Ability to present orally and in writing to parents, families, community stakeholders and parents, and the community-at-large

Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions.

Must be courteous and able to deal effectively with people.

Must be cooperative, congenial and service-oriented.

Ability to operate a computer and related software.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Full-time (12-month) exempt position. Salary and benefits consistent with the District's approved Compensation and Benefits Plan and/or Act 93 Agreement.

EVALUATION:

The employee will be formally evaluated with regard to his/her duties on a regular basis by the Superintendent and/or his/her designee in accordance with the provisions of the Act 93 agreement and Board Policy.
