Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 3:00pm – 1:30am

Position

The Composite Technician focuses on producing and developing composite materials to enhance quality and efficiency. They are responsible for coordinating with engineers to study and improve designs and shop-aids, as well as operate machines and equipment with an eye for developing strategies and workflow.

Technicians must be able to follow instructions from engineers and strive to ensure their work meets high standards of quality. They are also required to work in a team environment, so strong communication and collaboration skills are important.

Responsibilities

Essential functions, including how an individual is to perform them and the frequency with which the tasks are performed; the tasks must be part of the job function and truly necessary or required to perform the job.

Clean & Prep molds & dies, using hand tools, ice blaster, gantry, and hoists.

Composite layup using applications such as mandrel layup, dies, clam shells, bladder molding, and bagging.

Cure components using ovens and various presses.

Trim and deburr using various power & air tools.

Structural bonding and assembly using jigs, hand tools, and power tools

Perform repairs on composite components.

Inspect and test composite components for defects.

Maintain and troubleshoot assembly equipment.

Maintain accurate records of activities.

Develop and implement processes and procedures for composite Layup and assembly.

Participate in the development and implementation of new product and processes

Required Qualifications

Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, shop aids, and written instructions with limited supervision.

Ability to understand and adhere to all safety and quality policies.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in composite manufacturing or related field preferred.

Proficiency in using hand and power tools.

Attention to detail and quality control skills.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physical dexterity and ability to work with complex parts.

Takes leadership and ownership over processes and products

Education

High school diploma or GED certificate

Experience

3 to 5 years work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

Basic math and computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Teams).

Working Conditions

While performing typical duties of this job, production employees will experience the conditions noted below. PPE is provided to protect employees against physical harm or hazards in the workplace environment.

Usually work indoors. These sites may not be temperature controlled.

Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels.

Exposure to hazardous equipment.

Exposure to contaminants.

Shared workspaces with other employees.

Requires handling objects of up to 50 lbs.

Lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending.

Standing and/or walking for 8 to 12 or more hours per day (varies based on role, shift, and overtime).

Required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

Required PPE provided by SEKISUI Aerospace based on the employee’s position and exposure. Below are typical PPE used on the production floor. Appropriate PPE must be worn by all employees when on the production floor.

Pay

SEKISUI Aerospace is required by Washington law to include the pay for this role when hiring a Washington resident. Pay may be higher or lower for non-resident WA employees, based on the market data for their region, allowing us to pay employees competitively in different geographic markets.
