Summary
The QA Manager leads and coordinates all activities of the QA team including QA engineers, supervisors, test technicians, and inspection personnel to maximize productivity and minimize costs; and ensuring compliance through the inspection processes.
Responsibilities
Proactive prevention and development of solutions to process issues that create scrap/MRB/rework by consulting with management, QA, and Engineering personnel on better operational procedures to improve overall efficiency and product yields, including leadership of improvement-based projects.
Assist with production planning, testing and inspection of prototypes by developing test procedures and data protocols as required by new product development programs.
Review customer/internal/industry specifications to ensure compliance with stated requirements.
Oversee and direct resolution of customer, vendor, and internal quality issues.
Oversight of development, evaluation, coordination, and deployment of work instructions and procedures, in-process inspection plans, and associated process controls.
Qualifications
Strong familiarity with aerospace industry customers and processes, in-depth understanding of AS9100, NADCAP, aerospace and defense requirements.
Process management and documentation skills.
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining perspective.
Ability to lead problem solving activities, searches for root cause and addresses issues.
Ability to address conflict directly and works to resolve differences proactively.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience/knowledge of safety programs is strongly preferred.
Excellent communication skills, ability to process and present technical data to management using statistical tools.
Strong and collaborative relationships with upper management, peers and production team members.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
10+ years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience working with composite materials in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Additional Qualifications
Safety related training and certification are preferred.
Six Sigma training or certification preferred.
Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office preferred.
Working Conditions
While performing the typical duties of this job, employees will experience the conditions noted below. PPE is provided to protect employees against physical harm or hazards in the workplace environment.
Extended periods of sitting at a desk in an office environment.
Usually work indoors. These sites may not be temperature controlled.
Exposure to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
Exposure to hazardous equipment
Exposure to contaminants
Shared workspaces with other employees
Requires handling objects of up to 50 lbs.
Lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending
Standing and/or walking for 8 to 12 or more hours per day (varies based on role, shift, and overtime)

Required PPE provided by SEKISUI Aerospace based on the employee’s position and exposure. Below are typical PPE used on the production floor. Appropriate PPE must be worn by all employees when on the production floor.

Pay
SEKISUI Aerospace is required by Washington law to include the pay for this role when hiring a Washington resident. Pay may be higher or lower for non-resident WA employees, based on the market data for their region, allowing us to pay employees competitively in different geographic markets.
