Job Profile: Assistant Accountant

Department/Reporting Line

Reports to: Director/CEO

Job Purpose

The Accounts Officer is responsible for managing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting the finance team in preparing financial statements. The role also involves communication with parents regarding fees, processing payroll, and assisting in administrative tasks related to finance.

Key Responsibilities

Handle MRA PRGF submissions.

Manage MNS CSG, PAYE, and TDS filings.

Perform bank reconciliations.

Process cash payments and receipts.

Provide fee-related information to parents.

Contact parents regarding payment dues.

Review all payables with the Director (e.g., foodstuff, vegetables, bread, books).

Manage salary processing: input sick/local leaves, calculate transport, input days

worked, refund bus fare, compute and finalize salary, and send payslips.

Complete surveys from the Ministry.

Prepare and send EDF/SOE reports to MRA.

Assist the accountant in preparing financial statements.

Prepare and maintain children register.

Monitor and record movement from nursery to pre-primary.

Renew insurance policies and manage claims.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Proven experience in accounting or finance roles

Familiarity with statutory compliance and payroll processing

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite
