Job Description
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our production team. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining precision tools, dies, and fixtures that enable the efficient fabrication of sheet metal components. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining, tool building and blueprint interpretation.
Job Responsibilities:
Fabricate, assemble, and repair sheet metal dies and tools according to engineering specifications.
Operate manual and CNC machining equipment to produce custom tooling parts.
Conduct inspections, test dies and tools for functionality, and troubleshoot for necessary adjustments.
Collaborate with engineers and production staff to optimize tool performance and manufacturability.
Maintain tooling documentation, including schematics and revision logs.
Perform routine maintenance and preventive care on dies and tools to ensure longevity.
Adhere to safety protocols and quality assurance procedures throughout all stages of production.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (technical training or apprenticeship preferred).
3+ years of experience in tool and die making, particularly in sheet metal fabrication.
Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, CAD files, and specifications.
Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
Strong understanding of metallurgy and sheet metal forming processes.
Skilled in the use of lathes, grinders, milling machines, and EDM equipment.
Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in tool and die or manufacturing technology.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Basic understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
Compensation Package:
Wage: This role is based in the State of New York which requires the disclosure of salary ranges. The expected salary range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00 per hour. We provide salary ranges as a good faith estimate of what the company reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of posting. Compensation offered to a selected candidate may vary based on factors such as (but not limited to) a candidate's job-related qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and geographic location. The expected salary range for this position is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
