Position Overview:Are you a detail-oriented professional with experience in industrial painting and surface preparation?

Working within an industry leading organisation at Finning, and the largest CAT dealership in the UK and Ireland, your duties will be to carry out industrial surface preparation and protective coating applications to plant machinery and components

Job Description:

Major Job Functions

Perform mechanical and manual surface preparation including grinding, cleaning, masking and priming

Operate blasting equipment to remove rust, scale, old paint, and other contaminants.

Assess surface conditions prior to coating to ensure proper preparation standards

Mask and protect surrounding areas to prevent overspray and contamination.

Apply protective coatings using spray, brush, and roller techniques

Inspect painted products to ensure finish meets company quality standards

Carry out machine movements using the most appropriate tools/equipment, that could include slinging, forklift truck, cranage, etc.

Refuel machines as required.

Understanding of Industrial Paint processes, cleaning and application techniques

Understanding of COSHH regulations

H&S policy awareness and commitments

Accountability

Mix and handle paint and thinners safely and according to manufacturer’s data sheets (MSDS) Perform routine maintenance and care of spray painting equipment

Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned and stored properly at the end of each day, reflecting our commitment to efficiency, safety, and reducing environmental impact through proper tool maintenance.

Preliminary assessment of machine condition reporting any damage or missing items through the appropriate channels.

Maintain and clean painting equipment and spray booths for optimal operation

Follow safety protocols rigorously, ensuring all work is compliant with health and safety policies, and report any concerns to maintain a safe working environment, in line with environmental regulations.

Follow risk assessments, method statements, and COSHH guidelines

Education and Experience

ICATS trained (desirable)

Counterbalance Forklift truck licence is an advantage

NPORS licence or equivalent (desirable)

Appointed persons certificate in the management of lifting operations (desirable)
