SURGERY SCHEDULER: WESTERVILLE

POSITION SUMMARY

The Surgery Scheduler position is responsible for scheduling surgeries for FASCO providers. Responsibilities include but are not limited to coordinating the scheduling of surgical procedures with multiple hospitals and surgery centers, obtaining prior authorization from insurance companies, obtaining all ordered pre-operative testing, and collecting necessary documentation for surgeries. This individual works closely with patients, providers, and multiple surgery locations and is expected to maintain decorum and professionalism at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

-Coordinate and schedule surgeries and post-operative appointments, taking provider and hospital schedules into consideration.

-Must be able to prioritize and appropriately respond to various scenarios based on level of urgency.

-Work closely with surgery scheduling team members, office staff, providers, and hospital staff to provide patients with the best possible surgical experience.

-Complete and route all necessary paperwork as required to meet provider and facility requirements.

-Obtain pre-authorization and pre-determinations for products and services, as needed. Monitor statuses closely.

-Notify patients of their insurance benefits for the recommended product or service.

-Obtain pre-operative testing and/or surgical clearances as ordered by provider in a timely manner.

-May assist with the completion of patient paperwork.

-Order equipment from vendors that is not carried by the facility.

-Communicate with surgical team, patient, provider, facility, and any vendors efficiently.

-Follow all written protocols and procedures.

-Follow up on missing or inaccurate information.

-Collect payment for product or services from patient.

-Identify scheduling barriers and implement solutions to improve scheduling results based on predetermined goals.

-Receive and/or relay messages to patient, clinical staff, or provider. Document communications appropriately.

-Provide support to other team members including but not limited to referrals and benefits.

-Bring to the attention of the Department Supervisor any issues that are unable to be resolved.

-Other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned by the Department Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

-High school diploma or equivalent required.

-Previous experience in a healthcare setting required.

-1+ years of surgery scheduling or related experience recommended. Must be able to show that you can communicate effectively.

-Must be proficient in computers and able to type.

-Must possess strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
