Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Night Shift
Job Description:
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Nurse (RN) working the night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM. You will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care while interacting with patients and their families, ensuring that each interaction is based on established principles of communication for various age groups, including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect health history data from patients, families, and previous medical records while conducting thorough admission assessments within the designated time frame.
- Initiate necessary consults when admitting criteria are identified.
- Complete the Braden Scale and continuously assess patients' developmental, biophysical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
- Develop and maintain individualized, age-appropriate care plans by involving patients and families to ensure a safe and healing environment.
- Update the care plan as patient status changes, with input from the patient, family, and caregivers.
- Set realistic outcomes based on the patient's developmental stage while considering physiological changes and psychological needs, especially related to skin integrity, safety, and mental health.
- Monitor and evaluate patient needs, implementing appropriate nursing interventions in real-time.
- Effectively delegate responsibilities and assign tasks according to the skill level of caregivers involved in patient care.
- Coordinate patient care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach that promotes collaborative efforts.
- Ensure documentation accurately reflects patient responses, treatment, education, and nursing interventions, adhering to all policies and regulations.
- Comply with health department and other regulatory agency requirements while managing bed boards and patient needs.
- Evaluate the comprehension, skill levels, and learning barriers of patients and families, providing tailored education and teaching tools.
- Initiate and implement discharge planning at the time of admission, preparing patients and families for a smooth transition out of the facility.
- Coordinate with telemetry technicians to set appropriate arrhythmic parameters for monitoring and document telemetry data accurately.
- Follow protocols for chest pain management, perform nursing interventions, and document all outcomes efficiently.
- Oversee patients on high-risk intravenous cardiac medications and support elective cardioversion procedures.
Qualifications:
- Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Required: Current Registered Nurse License in New Jersey, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Preferred: 1-2 years of related nursing experience.
