Housing Officer

Phoenix House, Basildon – Covering Basildon and the surrounding areas

£34,531 - £36,348 per year plus £600 car allowance

37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday - 9:00am to 5:30pm

We are seeking a Housing Officer to join our Basildon Housing team that is part of the South East Region. You will be responsible for providing a high-quality housing management service that meets the identified needs of customers and the wider community. You will be working in a professional manner to resolve problems and improve services. Each day will involve working as part of a team to respond to resident tenancy & lease related queries in person, email and telephone as well as addressing concerns involving residents homes, the environment and neighbour relations. The sites managed have a high proportion of leasehold and shared ownership properties so experience of managing these tenures is required.

The role of Housing Officer will include:

Effective management of anti-social behaviour cases

Liaising with colleagues in Property Services and Lettings to ensure the effective allocation of void properties

Managing tenant expectations regarding repairs and escalating any property maintenance issues affecting tenant welfare via appropriate channels

Managing complaints about service delivery

Working with colleagues in other service areas to help the organisation meet its compliance obligations (fire safety, water hygiene, gas safety and data protection)

Delivering general advice on all aspects of tenancy to enable sustainability

Working closely with administrative colleagues to complete a range of tenancy management processes

Skills and experiences:

Proven experience of undertaking a similar role

Prior experience of delivering high quality tenancy services

Excellent skills in analysing and diagnosing problems and implementing solutions

Ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers

Excellent customer service and negotiating skills

An understanding of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Working knowledge of relevant regulations and good practice

Regular travel will be a requirement of the role, therefore a full valid driving license and access to a vehicle is essential

£34,531 per annum (rising to £36,348 per annum after 12 months, subject to satisfactory performance)
