The Electrical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, and documentation of electrical system commissioning activities at a high-tech semiconductor facility. This role ensures seamless coordination, system readiness, and compliance across all stakeholders, while maintaining the highest quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Develop detailed commissioning plans for electrical systems in alignment with ASHRAE, LEED, and California Title 24 standards.
Review and consolidate project documentation including IFC drawings, commissioning specifications, and sequences of operation.
Prepare electrical system test checklists and procedures for OAT (Operational Acceptance Testing), FAT (Functional Acceptance Testing), and IST (Integrated Systems Testing).
Lead Factory Witness Testing of electrical equipment prior to delivery to ensure compliance and readiness.
Perform site inspections and verify installation of electrical infrastructure, including supports, clearances, and sensor placements.
Conduct and document system verification walks and validate adherence to design intent and code requirements.
Coordinate and execute all electrical commissioning activities across construction and startup phases.
Execute functional and performance testing of electrical systems, including load testing, software validation, and inter-system dependencies.
Validate the operation of power distribution, backup power systems, controls, and monitoring equipment.
Track and resolve deficiencies through the creation and management of non-conformance logs (NCLs).
Maintain comprehensive commissioning documentation using Smart Completions or equivalent Cx platforms.
Generate test reports, turnover packages, and support documentation required for Green Tag and Blue Tag certifications.
Work closely with facility operations teams, inspectors, contractors, and vendors to ensure commissioning success.
Participate in weekly coordination meetings and contribute to project schedule adherence.
Support training and handover to facility operations teams for ongoing system use and maintenance.
Assist with LEED certification efforts and post-occupancy reporting for electrical systems.
2-3 months training in Arizona before moving to Ohio facility.
Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. Skills Required:
Electrical Journeyman's License (Required)
Lighting Controls Technician (ATT-L) - strongly preferred
3-5+ years of hands-on electrical commissioning experience in semiconductor or high-tech facilities.
Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E, OSHA, ASHRAE, LEED, and Title 24.
Proven ability to interpret electrical drawings, sequences of operation, and technical specifications.
Familiarity with Smart Completions or similar commissioning management systems.
Excellent coordination, documentation, and communication skills. Education / Licenses / Certifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or Master) Required.
