Bar Beirut is Canberra’s go-to-late-night cocktail bar and kitchen, serving up great food, drinks, music and mischief trading five nights a week. We’re a well-established venue with an excellent reputation and tight-knit team, where hard work is acknowledged and rewarded. Our kitchen churns out hearty, modern share plates inspired by the flavours of the Middle East in a lively setting from the heart of Garema Place, Canberra.

Salary $78,000

DUTIES

• In partnership with Directors, managing staff rosters and recruitment processes

• Supervising and mentoring the kitchen team to ensure safe and efficient food production.

• Developing menus and conducting comprehensive costings to optimise profitability while maintaining quality standards.

• Preparing, serving and storing food items in accordance with established standards, ensuring all dishes meet quality and presentation requirements.

• Monitoring food preparation processes to ensure adherence to established standards and communicating any product or service concerns immediately to Directors.

• Maintaining strict adherence to food hygiene protocols and workplace safety requirements, ensuring full compliance with all applicable food safety legislation, guidelines and programs.

• Ensuring all staff understand and implement food safety requirements for proper food handling and storage procedures.

• Overseeing daily kitchen opening and closing procedures while maintaining excellent presentation standards throughout service periods.

• Ensuring kitchen facilities remain clean, organised and inspection-ready at all times through general cleaning duties and maintenance.

• Monitoring, ordering and managing stock levels to minimize waste while ensuring adequate supplies for operational needs.

• Maintaining effective communication with Front of House managers to ensure seamless service delivery.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum four (4) years’ experience in a chef position

• Experience in a Middle Eastern restaurant

• Cert IV in Commercial Cookery

• A passion for hospitality and food

• Team player with great leadership skills and stellar work ethic

• Immaculate personal presentation and hygiene.
