Job Summary:
The Counselor is responsible for delivering professional substance use and mental health counseling services to individuals and groups. This role also ensures timely and accurate documentation in compliance with Basecamp Recovery Center’s documentation policies and standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Uphold the Mission and Vision of Basecamp Recovery Center.
Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and clinical management meetings as scheduled.
Maintain professional relationships with all clients and staff while adhering to client rights and ethical guidelines.
Comply with all agency policies and procedures, including safety rules, the Code of Ethics, and applicable state/local regulations.
Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide individual and group counseling sessions in alignment with agency policy.
Maintain a consistent caseload of assigned clients, conducting weekly individual and group sessions.
Observe and evaluate clients for risk factors including lethality, and notify the Clinical Director immediately when needed.
Conduct intake assessments for new clients and provide education and prevention-focused services.
Participate in Treatment Team Meetings as clinically appropriate.
Cover caseloads of fellow counselors during absences or emergencies, as requested.
Collaborate with external agencies and community resources to address client needs and strengthen service linkages.
Coordinate with medical, case management, clinical, and housing departments throughout the intake and treatment process.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all clinical documentation.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective conflict resolution and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds
Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED (required)
CDCA Certification (required)
Experience in AOD counseling, and working with individuals experiencing homelessness, trauma survivors, and family systems (required)
