Purpose
Contributes to the overall success of the MIS – Central Support Services team in the Client Experience Center (CEC) - GBS DR & COL being responsible for supporting the CEC reports and developing advanced analytics initiatives to achieve optimized processes and therefore boost regional and local strategies for the CEC.
The Specialist must have experience in using large datasets, as well as data mining methods, statistics, and programming to develop solutions for the CEC keeping internal clients informed about their performance KPIs. The role requires analytical skills and attention to detail, integrating the use of data mining tools and predictive analytics to provide information with high value about the performance of the CEC, leading the promotion of a high-performance culture.
Accountabilities
• Integrate, improve, and analyze all data sources that measure operational performance to increase accuracy and maintain an appropriate variable compensation plan (VCP), as well as other recognition and performance evaluation programs.
• Design, develop, and implement information storage tools to optimize and standardize all required input data, also integrate and unify the data collection process, ensuring data quality and integrity.
• Develop and automate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, considering best practices and performance.
• Present monthly, quarterly and yearly reports to different stakeholders and key external partners interested in operational efficiency and performance. Responsible for creating and presenting detailed, comprehensive, and data driven proposals for business improvement opportunities using advanced visualization tools.
• Implement data analytical tools, as well as methodologies and programming languages dedicated to data processing, data science, and/or advanced analytics within the bank's business environments and technology portfolio.
• Create predictive models using machine learning to anticipate risks and improve decision-making.
• Develop analyses according to business’ interests and be able to create continuous improvement strategies aligned with the CEC's strategic objectives.
• Effectively communicate, explain, and train strategic allies on the different products developed by the MIS team, sharing source management, calculations and other products features.
• Support ad-hoc reports and executive presentations for multiple strategic initiatives as needed. There will also be a constant need to build and foster relationships with key partners across the organization to provide consultation and support on reports.
• Generate innovative initiatives that enable strategic decision-making based on data usage and promote a culture of curiosity.
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience
• English B1
• Degree in Statistics, Software or Systems Engineering, Economics, Finance, related fields or students finishing careers
• 1+ years of experience in visualization and/or reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SAS, Cognos, Qlik Sense, or similar.
• 2+ years of experience in handling tools for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL), such as SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Talend, ODI, MS Access.
• 2+ years of experience in managing large and complex datasets to support analytical processes.
• Effective communication skills for project documentation and presentations for audiences with and without technical knowledge
• Intermediate/Advanced in SQL language, Python or R.
• Intermediate Excel
• Knowledge in data science or business intelligence concepts and approaches.
