As a crucial member of our organization, you will play a key role in optimizing and automating our manufacturing processes.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to apply engineering theory, data analysis and problem-solving techniques.

This role works in conjunction with the operations, quality, and engineering departments to improve safety, quality, and productivity to reduce costs wherever possible.Collaborate with operations personnel and the quality assurance department to gain a deep understanding of operational processes, our products, and how they are qualitatively measuredMaintain and improve in-house software process models as well as third-party software process models no longer supported by vendors; monitor model performance via analysis of measured dataDevelop strategies to reduce defects, delays, and other missed opportunitiesGather and analyze data to produce proof-of-concept models for process improvement, ensuring that the data recorded accurately represents the processUnderstand equipment limitations, collaborate with engineering personnel to continually improve equipment performanceDevelop strong vendor relationships in an effort to understand the equipment and software process models they provideDevelop training tools to help team members across the organization gain a better understanding of the processMaintain all Level II supervisory systems hardware and software components, i.e., perform upgrades, apply patches, etc.Accountability of 24/7/365 mission critical services in manufacturing operations provided by the Level II supervisory systemsRequirementsBachelor's Degree in Computer, Electrical, Manufacturing or Materials Science Engineering with an emphasis on process modelling, control theory and statistical analysis10 years of experience, preferably in the steel industry (Rolling Mills) or manufacturingStrong mathematical background with experience in implementing various numerical methodsAdaptive software process models experience and/or trainingSoftware development and support experience with DEC Fortran, DEC C programming languages on OpenVMS operating systemsSoftware development and support experience with .NET programming languages on Windows OSDatabase knowledge, experienced with Microsoft SQL Server/T-SQL programming skillsFamiliarity with virtual environments, e.g., VMware, preferredUnderstanding Industrial Networking and topology, preferred Able to read through complicated algorithms and/or source code to identify problems or areas for improvement and propose solutionsKnowledge of group problem solving techniques such as brainstorming, value stream mapping and/or Kaizen eventsWilling and able to support the 24 hour operation through variable shifts and/or off-hours remote and telephone support#TASOur total compensation package includes amazing benefits!Competitive wages and bonus opportunities Family medical, dental, and prescription coverage at minimal employee cost Short and long term disability programsCompetitive retirement plans Flexible Spending and Health Savings AccountsEmployer-provided and Voluntary Life Insurance options Paid vacation and recognized statutory holidays Apprenticeship and career advancement within the companyTuition reimbursementWellness programAll applicants must be eligible to work in the USA.While we thank all those who apply, only those being actively considered for employment will be contacted.Equal Opportunity EmployerOrion Steel Group, L.L.C.
