As a team we collaborate to solve problems, contribute ideas and challenge each other to ensure growth and ultimately success for the business and our employees.Job Description and ResponsibilitiesRocky Mountain Steel Mills is looking for a Process Automation Engineer to join our Maintenance team at our plant located in Pueblo, Colorado.

The Process Automation Engineer is responsible for developing new industrial processes and designing new process plants and equipment or modifying existing ones in an industrial setting.

Support rolling mills and steelmaking production and maintenance at highly automated steel manufacturing plantDesign, develop, and implement control systems (hardware & software) to improve production times, steel quality, equipment performance, energy consumption, down-time reduction, and process automationObtain complete understanding of company process control systems and their impact on the production line beginning with scrap melting through refining steel, liquid to solid transformation and finished productMake recommendations for development action; analyze, modify and improve programmable logic controllers (PLC) and human-machine interfaces (HMI)Design and monitor performance indicators, create the necessary bridges between control site and company information systemsProvide on-going maintenance support and resolution of process control system problems, including taking ownership of such problems to completionWrite requirements specifications, and high-level design and systems architecture specifications related to control of steel production processesProject management responsibilitiesRequirementsBachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Automated Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical education5+ years of relevant work experienceExperience must include working with Allen-Bradley PLC (or Fanuc, Modicon, Toolbox) and VFD (variable frequency drives)Strong computer skills in MS Excel, Projects and PowerPointProven teamwork, communication (oral and written), administrative and organizational skillsProven problem solving and analytical skillsMust be available to be on call and assist personnel in times of emergency and business needs#TASCompensation$115,000 - $125,000Open & Closing Dates: 8/1/2025 - 9/30/2025Our total compensation package includes amazing benefits!Competitive wages and bonus opportunities Family medical, dental, and prescription coverage at minimal employee cost Short and long term disability programs Competitive retirement plans Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts Employer-provided and Voluntary Life Insurance options Paid vacation and recognized statutory holidays Apprenticeship and career advancement within the company Tuition reimbursement Wellness programAll applicants must be eligible to work in the USA.While we thank all those who apply, only those being actively considered for employment will be contacted.Equal Opportunity EmployerOrion Steel Group, L.L.C.
