As a Machine Operator at Norlen, a Ryerson family of companies, you will be responsible for forming metal parts and components on a brake press.
Roles and Responsibilities
Set up press brake (if manual) using setup details in controlled
Is trained in the operation of equipment and the precision measuring tools necessary for the inspection of parts produced by each operation
Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction
Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation
Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut, fixtures, and cutting tools to be used
Has the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
All other duties as assigned
Requirements
Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
Basic manufacturing capabilities, includes blueprint reading and experience with measuring tools
Has the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Can do it attitude, collaborative mindset
Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding
