Position Title: Maintenance Lead Function: The main function of the Maintenance Lead is to oversee and ensure the efficient maintenance, repair, and optimization of equipment, systems, and industrial facility infrastructure.
This role is essential for minimizing downtime, maintaining operational efficiency, and ensuring safety standards are met.
The Maintenance Lead reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities: 1.
Team Leadership and CoordinationSupervise and guide a team of maintenance technicians.Assign tasks, set priorities, and manage workloads to meet maintenance schedules.Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations to the team.

Maintenance Planning and ExecutionWork closely with the Maintenance Supervisor to develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to reduce equipment failures and extend machinery life.Oversee routine inspections and maintenance tasks.Coordinate and schedule repairs to minimize disruptions to production processes.

Troubleshooting and Problem-SolvingProactively diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, operational inefficiencies, and system failures to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.Provide expertise to address complex mechanical, electrical, or systems issues.Lead and support troubleshooting efforts during emergencies or critical equipment failures, ensuring a timely and effective response.Maintain documentation of incidents, diagnostics, and resolutions to support knowledge sharing and future issue prevention.

Compliance and SafetyEnsure that maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations and industry standards.Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and other safety protocols.Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate hazards in the workplace.Collaborate with the EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) department to ensure all incidents are reported, investigated, and documented appropriately.

Inventory and Resource ManagementMonitor and manage spare parts and maintenance supplies inventory.Coordinate with procurement and vendors to source necessary tools, parts, and materials in a timely and cost-effective manner.Track usage patterns and forecast demand to proactively manage stock and avoid shortages or overstocking.Implement inventory control systems, including regular audits and accurate record-keeping, to ensure accountability and minimize waste.

Collaboration with Other DepartmentsWork closely with production, engineering, and quality control teams to align maintenance efforts with operational goals.Communicate effectively with management regarding maintenance needs, challenges, and progress.Foster strong working relationships with production, engineering, quality control, and other departments to ensure maintenance activities align with overall operational objectives.Coordinate planned maintenance and repair schedules to minimize disruption to production processes and optimize equipment availability.Communicate clearly and consistently with management regarding maintenance priorities, resource requirements, challenges encountered, and progress updates.

Documentation and ReportingMaintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance schedules, equipment repairs, inspections, and part replacements.When needed to cover supervisor prepare and submit reports on maintenance metrics, downtime analysis, and cost management.Provide data-driven insights and recommendations to support continuous improvement initiatives, capital planning, and operational efficiency.

Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency.Lead or participate in projects aimed at upgrading systems or adopting new technologies.Promote a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging team involvement, feedback, and training on best practices and emerging industry trends.Proactively identify and evaluate opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, maintenance practices, and overall operational efficiency.Analyze maintenance trends, recurring issues, and equipment performance data to recommend and implement process improvements Requirements:Strong computer skills, including proficiency in inventory management software or computerized maintenance management system and Microsoft Office Suite.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.Experience with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial equipment (mechanical, electrical, or automation systems).Must be able to work with required PPE such as gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses/shield, respirator, hard hats, etc.Required 5+ years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance or a related field.Previous Supervisory or team leadership experience is highly preferred.
Education/Experience:High School Diploma or GED (Minimum):Technical or Vocational Training : Certifications in Industrial maintenance, electrical, mechanical, pneumatics, welding is a plus.
Language Skills:Bilingual Spanish preferredCommunication proficiency; ability to respond effectively to internal and external contacts and answer or ask questions.

This position is mostly sedentary and requires repetitive hand movements, may require some standing, walking, bending, climbing or balance, stoop or kneel, crouch or crawl, plus occasionally lifting 25-30 lbs., and filing throughout the workday.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, adjusted focus and the ability to work in front of a computer monitor for extended periods of the day.
Work Environment: This position sits at a workstation in the maintenance cage area.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and moving mechanical parts.
The noise level in the work environment can be loud and have varying temperatures depending on the time of year.
