Job Summary Safely supervise, prioritize, and coordinate the activities and workload for repair and testing of various types of valves including but not limited to soft/metal seated ball valves, and sight glasses to industry standards, such as ASME, API, ANSI, and Chlorine Institute in compliance with OEM specifications, customer specifications (GCLA procedures), and Quality Control Procedures (QCPs) in the field.

It requires the handling of multiple tasks with many unexpected interruptions.
Responsiveness and energy to work long hours and cover a wide scope without letting up on the pace is necessary.

Experience & Qualifications High School or equivalent Technical/Trade School preferredMinimum 10+ years of supervisory experience in valve maintenance and/or valve automation field services type environmentIF no supervisory experience, then 10+ years of valve maintenance and/or automated valve service experience is requiredIn the absence of specific Valve Maintenance or Valve Automation background, experience with other industrial instrumentation/equipment sold into the chemical, petro-chemical, refining and oil & gas industries will be consideredA thorough understanding of small and large-scale turnaround processes is preferredDemonstrated ability to lead others in their daily routinesTWIC, OSHA Safety, and other statutory or regulatory certifications Competencies Strong Mechanical AptitudeTenaciousProfessionally ArticulateCapable of reading Equipment & Process Specification documentsProficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, WordProfessional in appearance and actionsDemonstrated ability to read, write and verbalize in a professional, organized mannerHighly inquisitive about industrial process industryDemonstrated success in dealing with personnel issuesDemonstrate and maintain the mental acuity required to effectively manage a Field Services business in an efficient and timely manner while maintaining a safe and productive environmentSuccessful in interfacing with customers, internal and externalDemonstrated problem solving abilitiesSelf-Starter and Self-Directed Typical Duties & Responsibilities Manage offshore service personnel as applicable who perform valve services including installation, maintenance, and repair and work in concert with the supervisor for field services for on-site valve services.Develop and oversee planning and scheduling for offshore valve service activities including advance staffing requirements.Ensure valve technicians assigned to offshore valve service projects are trained and or qualified to the task and customer safety and technical requirements in addition to the company quality assurance programResponsible for maintaining all offshore valve service equipment including tools, test equipment, supplies, etc.Responsible for periodic review of customer contractual requirements for conducting offshore valve services to ensure this information is effectively transferred to the technicians.Works in conjunction with the company HSE Coordinator to maintain current information required for block valve services personnel in ISNetworld, PICS, PEC, etc.Works in conjunction with the company Quality Assurance Manager to verify all quality control procedure requirements are followed for offshore valve services up to and including site quality audits.Works in concert with the Operations Manager to establish an operating budget for offshore valve service personnel, equipment and supply needs in conjunction with the General Manager to meet the demands of a growing service business in the most efficient and effective manner.
Develop and implement quality and safety metrics that gauge the effectiveness of our field services performance (safety, quality, and customer satisfaction) and reported on a scheduled frequency.Conduct and or coordinate job reviews as needed to develop comprehensive job scopes and manpower plans.Attends pre-turnaround and post-turnaround planning meetings as applicable.
Participates with the customer service team (Repair Coordinators) to complete quotations for offshore valve service opportunities and post-job billing preparationWorks in conjunction with purchasing for sourcing materials, supplies, and subcontract services as applicable for offshore valve service activities.Ensures time sheets prepared during field services and time clock entries for shop services are accurate, approved by the customer, received at the home facility, and entered at the agreed upon timeframeAttends all daily production meetings to report and stay abreast of overall offshore valve services activities.Ensures that all offshore valve services staff are properly trained so as to contribute efficiently and productively to the John H Carter organizationSupports JHC accounting department with problem invoices and general customer account informationUnderstands and ensures that the JHC TCC (Total Customer Commitment) standards are upheld at all timesWorks closely with and supports the JHC product principals when required to do soManages and enforces the after-hour and weekend ‘On-Call’ rotation in conjunction with other shop supervisionActively and enthusiastically supports JHC colleagues at all timesBuilds and cultivates solid relationships – internally and externallyTravels when required and applicable PLEASE NOTE: John H Carter Company is not accepting unsolicited assistance from search firms/employment agencies for this employment opportunity.
